CountrySelector Download 1.3

This component/theme works with latest OSSN version.
German ~Z~ Man 6 months ago

adds a "Country" selector to your member's account settings page.

It's a replacement for the former outdated 'm_county' component
which will be discontinued and removed in the near future.

CountrySelector is compatible with the latest Free and Premium version of Ossn and supports localization now.

For your convenience, all Ossn default language files are already in place, but (except of the English one) still need translation.

Volunteers are welcome. :)

V 1.3
- fix sort order of special characters like É, À, etc.

V 1.2
- countries are sorted correctly now according to your chosen language
- 3 glitches in language files corrected:

line #72 estonia
line #81 frenchsouthern
line #196 saudiarabia

In case you have already started translation simply compare these 3 lines to your own file and add the corrections.

V 1.1
displays the chosen country on the Premium 'Custom User Fields' About page as well as on the About page of the free 'aboutuser' component.
V 1.0

@ScottBacheldor Did you activate the component after to have installed it ? (when you install a component, you have to activate it in the component section, normally at first you have a red cross)

Thanks again OSSN USER for your feedback.
V 1.3 should solve the issue with accented characters.

Dutch OSSN USER Replied 5 months ago

Thanks ZetMan, it works almost fine.
The characters without accents are well sorted but I have a problem with accentued letters (in France we have all sort of accents : Î , É , È , Ê , Ë , À ... and many others ...)
The countries beginning by theses accentued characters are automatically at the end of the country list. Is there a way to put them with the letters without accents ?

For example in french, "Egypt" is "Égypte". Is there an option to place countries beginning by "É" with countries beginning by "E" ?

Sorry, I'm a perfectionist, for me, a word with a character without accent when he should have one is a misspelling.

Download V 1.2. and you should be fine. You don't have to sort anything in your language file manually. I simply forgot the sorting code in the component. Sorry. And thanks for making aware of that issue.

I know how to make a translation on OSSN.
I've translated ALL my components in french but when you translate the countries, the place of the country stay the same in the country list.
I gave you the example of the Germany cause in french it began by "A" not by "G" so the name of the country should be on the top of the list.

So I need to sort it manually ?

German ~Z~ Man Replied 5 months ago

That's right, and already noted in the description:

For your convenience, all Ossn default language files are already in
place, but (except of the English one) still need translation.

Actually, there's no need to 'sort' anything. Only translate the RigHT side of the array items.

Hence, the line in the English file looking like

'germany' => 'Germany',

has to be

'germany' => 'Deutschland',

in the German file and

'germany' => 'Allemagne',

in your French translation.

For detailed translating instructions see

For the french version, countries are not translated in French (all the names of the countries are still in english).
I translated them but in the list, they are still in the "english order".
For example, "Germany" in french is "Allemagne" but instead to be placed in "A" it is placed in "G".
So how to sort it right ?

so make sure your site meets the requirements (Ossn 5.0 and TextareaSuppport 2.1 installed).
