Broken images after ossn_data mishap

Allon Prooit Posted in Technical Support 1 year ago

While trying to make a backup of ossn_data prior to an upgrade attempt, the data file went to the trash in cPanel somehow. I copied it back to the appropriate root folder but now have 4 weeks worth of image posts showing broken when viewed via mobile, but ok via desktop. Is there a simple fix? Any help is appreciated.

It's better to restore from a clean backup if there is only one infected account. This is why it's crucial to regularly backup your data. After that, focus on updating your platform and website. You should reinstall the server from the clean backups if the entire system has been hacked.

It was unresolvable. I must have accidentally deleted or somehow lost some of the data files. I had to delete the broken image posts.

What was the issue?

If it is showing ok via desktop then there must be cache as Michael said its 1:1 same loading. Maybe your browser caching the requests based on devices.

This doesn't make much sense to me since the image fetching should be the same in both cases.
Disable Ossn cache from ossn admin backend.
Then log off both on Desktop and mobile
Make sure both browsers are no longer displaying any Ossn related pages
Clean the cache of both browsers
Try again - same result?
