@Z-Man ... Uhm, I was chiming in to say that I was experiencing it too.
I don't know anything about their api's - to even begin to fix it.
That, and my current to-do list workload is insane. Though, my comment reply component is working well, but some how the database on my main site corrupted itself. So, I have to figure out what happened?!

The only icon set that I can get to work is the Jdenticons. The rest doesn't seem to work on my public site.
Just wanted to chime in to help.
I can confirm that the picsum and avataaars doesn't work for me.

It's been quite a while since I used it. I remember Picsum had timeouts on image delivery here and there formerly already - maybe they have shut down that service completely in the meantime ...

One minor issue, when I select
Option 4: Picsum Photos

We don't see the pictures added to the profile images on creation. Do we need to collect these pictures and add it to server or are we missing any permissions?

We want to use option 4, but when used we get like in the attached screenshot.

OK. What am I doing wrong? I install it, enable it, then go into configuration and change it to "3. Avataaars" then when I go back to the site I have little icons for missing image. Help?
