Hi there,
in our language file you can extend your copyright info
original = `'copyright' => '© COPYRIGHT',
extendet = `'copyright' => '© COPYRIGHT 2016 - <script type="text/javascript">document.write(new Date().getFullYear())</script>',
the output is = © COPYRIGHT 2016 - 2017
cahnge the year 2016 to yours

That's correct. And of course you may change anything in the language files to fit your own preferences - EXCEPT the Powered by the Open Source Social Network string.
But have in mind that all your changes will be overwritten with the next Ossn update, thus I'd recommend to keep them separate and use the 'Custom Strings' component instead
