i'm not a fan of ubuntu. is there a way to get it working with debian instead? is the problem with php?

BB looks like you have configuration issues, trry to use ubuntu instead of debian and try https://www.opensource-socialnetwork.org/wiki/view/3994/how-to-install-ossn-on-ubuntu-x64-using-command-line

I'm getting a similar messages nothing more. All of these are installed and running.

Please explain it more, what is missing from installation prerequisites
Due to the many requests in the past for additonal features and components we have decided to develope a premium version. Features like Hashtags, Videos, Polls, Events, Stories, Link Preview, etc included in it.
