Is it possible to edit the user permissions? I haven't found a space to do this. I'd like to restrict certain features to a specific user group. I'd like to be able to create user groups and assign permissions to each, but, again, I didn't see where to do this.

You may add 'admin' permissions to any member from your Ossn administrator backend, and there's a component available to add 'moderator' permissions. See https://www.softlab24.com/product/view/4390/site-moderators.
Perhaps you can be a little more specific about those "certain features" you have in mind.
