I get the following errors when using the site, it even happens after a complete fresh install.

This is the first error that users get when signing up:

Despite this the users account is still made.

The second error appears when a user (any user, including admin) tries to post. I also get the same error when editing ads in admin:

I have hosting with LCN with a cpanel to set up the sql database using phpmyadmin however I have installed OSSN manually by following the instructions and extracting the zip and uploading it to the server using FTP. LCN do not provide cpanel to set up OSSN, only wordpress and a few others are available for 'one click install'. Hopefully that helps,
