I installed OSSN 5.0.1 on DigitalOcean and every theme I try to install is invalid. There is only a delete button. Help!!

Ossn 5.0 is indeed fairly outdated. ;)
You should get the latest version (5.2) from https://www.opensource-socialnetwork.org/download
Due to the many requests in the past for additonal features and components we have decided to develope a premium version. Features like Hashtags, Videos, Polls, Events, Stories, Link Preview, etc included in it.
