The registration stuck while registering with a three letters username

Massimiliano Polito Posted in Technical Support 1 year ago

Dear all,

I've just installed OSSN and tried to register myself as the first user using the username "max".

The register page got stuck on the rolling wheel, without showing any error. I made a search on these pages and discovered that the username should be 5 characters as a minimum. I tried again with a different username and I succeeded.

However, why OSSN didn't show any error messages and it just blocked on the rolling wheel? If it happens to a "standard" user he/she would never understand why he/she can't register.

I made a search for this problem on the site but I didn't find anything useful so I decided to write this post asking for a clarification.

Ciao,
Max

Dear Arsalan,

thank you for your reply. I still don't have much knowledge about how OSSN works but I've checked the italian language file and it seems the label 'username:error' is correctly defined.

I checked both error_log and error_log_php in cPanel but there is nothing that seems to be related to that problem.

I've just tried again to register a user with username "max" and now it works: the registration is rejected and the error message about username constraints is correctly shown.

The site I'm talking to is: https://test.orizzontisfocati.it/ but the problem can't be reproduced now.

Do you have any suggestion about what information should I collect in case it happens again, to help with the troubleshooting?

Ciao,
Max

Ossn does show the error which language you are using for your website? Maybe language problem.

What is your website so we can check.
