Really struggling with this platform when trying to make changes without touching core files

Paul Smith Posted in Technical Support 3 months ago

If using OSSN:
OSSN version: 8.9
Website URL (optional):

If facing any bug:
PHP Version : 8.2
Error Log if any:
Browser: Chrome and Firefox
OS (Window/Linux/Android/iOS/Mac): Windows 11

I seem to be unable to wrap my head around how to modify the OSSN platform to suit my needs. Searched all docs I can find, tried to create overrides with no luck, copied over GoBlue theme and changed everything to my custom theme naming convention for all functions and tried modifying files in the new custom theme.

Css mods work fine this way but other files like locale/ossn.en.php don't when I try to change simple text. I even tried copying over the core locale/ossn.en.php into my custom theme but it broke the site and now I cannot get it back even when I re-upload the original locale/ossn.en.php file from the GoBlue theme.

Appreciate some help on explaining why it is expected to modify core files instead of duplicate theme or similar approach.

Thank you for your time

i have started small, and got direct access to database.
somethime my screen goes blanc and have to set SELECT * FROM ossn_site_settings cache to zero
and the broken component to zero SELECT * FROM ossn_components

So lot off try and error and reading to the components

you can do it

Hi Arsalan, I have my website invisible to everyone except me until I finish it. I got my issue sorted. Slowly figuring things out.

Maybe you upload your custom theme somewhere so someone can see where is the problem?
