OSSN - OPEN SOURCE SOCIAL NETWORK 3.8

Bugfixes:

Don't load notification and chat boot api when user is not loggedin.
Disallow version check request to non-loggedin users #565

General:

Move notification topbar to plugin views.
Remove direct call to external component class.
Remove invalid old files form ossnblack theme.
All the menus are now sorted to alphabetically.

Enhancements:

Add topbar static menu to dynamic #541

Please note that Ossn is free of charge and Informatikon Technologies is not providing any free services/support for Ossn, Please don't send the upgrade requests to them unless any of Ossn core team member ask you to send.

Informatikon Technologies provides free Ossn technical support and commercial services.

When I've been upgrading my sites I've just copied the new files up overwriting the old files. They seem to be upgrading fine. Is there some reason I should not do this? Some reason why I must delete the old files first?

Talking about modules:
It's difficult to circumvent these steps because OSSN can't rely on third party programmers to keep their work always up-to-date.
Worst case: a third party module depends on a core function which is no longer available, needs additional parameters ... whatever. Most likely your site will crash with a module like that enabled.
Reloading and re-enabling such a module after having updated the core system will crash the site, too. That's the bad aspect. But at least you'll get a better idea which one is causing the problem. :)

Re themes: Arsalan may correct me, but I think, as long as you are not running a 3rd party theme you can stay with the core theme (default or black) you are currently running.

Good to hear. The only complaint I have is that I wish we didn't have to keep disabling add-on components and reverting themes back to default each time we needed to do an upgrade. Other than that, it's a pretty simple process.
