Unable to upgrade to 4.6 from version 4.2 following suggested steps.

Can anyone assist me as I have the "Older" version of 4.2 and for the last two month battling to upgrade to version 4.6.

After following the steps (Back up data and keeping the configuration folder on the server) Uploaded the unzip files but when I enter into my browser the URL (sitename.com/upgrade/upgrade.php) nothing appears on the site.

My question is that if I wipe the server clear of all data (except the ossn_data) and reinstall the site will I be able to retrieve the user data on the new installation? ( have backed up my msql data too which I can dump back).

Can someone post some tips which would be the best method

Thanks

Thanks for the information.
It worked as per instructions.
Thank you!

Looks like you installed OssnMessages from the component store which is causing issues at times.
If so, use your ftp tool to delete the OssnMessages directory on the server and copy the OssnMessages directory from your locally unzipped 4.6 archive to the server.

Sorry ~Z~
The site is updated to 4.6 and is looking great, however, the messenger is not working and getting error reports. I am not sure if this has already been addressed in previous discussions. Could you assist me?

Error:
Exception: Call to undefined method OssnMessages:getWith in /var/www/vhosts/(Sitename)/httpdocs/classes/OssnBase.php:74 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/vhosts/(Sitename)/httpdocs/components/OssnMessages/ossn_com.php(146): OssnBase->__call('getWith', Array) #1 /var/www/vhosts/(Sitename)/httpdocs/libraries/ossn.lib.page.php(67): ossn_messages_page(Array, 'messages') #2 /var/www/vhosts/(Sitename)/httpdocs/index.php(21): ossn_load_page('messages', Array) #3 {main}

Thanks

You're welcome, Mark!
Making mistakes is just human, and I'm always happy getting feedback and an explanation of what had happened - because others may run into the same problem.

Thanks, ~Z~
I realised it was my mistake of not being logged in as administrator.
Sorry, the spam!
