Unable to create accounts

John Mitchell Posted in Technical Support 9 years ago

I have installed OSSN at gtownhhs.net and am currently testing. It will not accept any new users even when I add them as the admin. Any help appreciated.

I figured it out by uninstalling and installing Oxwall - no problems since.

Yeah, one subject, two users, three problems: confusion guaranteed.

First, please don't post new problems to an already existing thread.
Next, provide more details like server logs and the OSSN error log file.
(OSSN error logging can be enabled from the admin dashboard)

Remember the subject: "Unable to create new accounts".
That's not an installation issue. And I doubt that John is willing to switch permissions temporarely to 777 whenever a new user is trying to register. ;)

For heaven's sake, NO!
There's something basically wrong with your installation if you need write permission for everyone!!! (777) to make OSSN work. A correct OSSN installation runs flawlessly with 755. The only thing you have to asure is that your directories (both OSSN core and data) are owned by the webserver process (apache and friends). If in doubt ask your provider how to get this done.
