Is it possible to use instead of a server you own laptop?

Yes it is you will need a server application such as wamp or xampp either one is not bad xampp is probable the easiest to use all you have to do is make sure you have the right php and mysql version you can find all the documentation by clicking on the Doc file on the same line as the OSSN version you want to use.
