Hello,
How can I use OSSN with 1&1? I've just tried it and when I go to try and set it up it doesn't come up.

I've tried adding it. No luck. Currently I'm too busy at the moment to call but I will soon

Many 1&1 support threads are recommending to add the line

RewriteBase /

right below

RewriteEngine on

Did you try that?
And did you contact 1&1 in the meantime?

Sorry. There isn't even an apache section. Is this a problem with 1and1 or something?

Hold on, I went to http://social.chatterboxgames.co.uk/myphp.php and it came up with a load of info. What do I need to find?

gb Hayden Brown Replied 7 years ago

Oh and Zet, I will try contacting 1and1

I will also try removing the line

Sorry I haven't replied in a while. Firstly, what do you mean by .htaccess config didn't suits hosting and secondly, there is no other .htaccess in the folders and there is no other application in the same folder but if you mean 1and1's clickandbuilds folder, then yes there are other apps in that but they're in different folders in the clickandbuilds folder. Would you like a screenshot of the files?

It seems :

  1. By visiting : http://social.chatterboxgames.co.uk/rewrite.php it shows 500 error, that means .htaccess config didn't suits your hosting provider.
  2. http://social.chatterboxgames.co.uk/[anything] it shows a white page with some html code in it.

Can you make sure you have no other app running on same folder / nor there is anyother .htaccess in parent folder?

Can you try to comment/remove following line from your .htaccess file Options +SymlinksIfOwnerMatch

He Hayden,
is it: your still stuck with myphp.php showing the code only?
Did you you contact 1&1 support in the meantime how to set up your server correctly and which way to enable mod_rewrite (as I suggested in the very beginning) ?
