Import Posts/Photos from Facebook

Possibly the most useful feature you could add would be an import feature allowing import of posts/photos from Facebook, to allow mass migration of account data from Facebook. Facebook has an export feature in Settings>Your Facebook Information. Adding such a feature would be the best way to encourage large numbers of Facebook users to migrate to OpenSource Social Network platforms.

Interesting but sounds like a whole lot of work ^_^

This is interesting. Yesterday, a user requested to be able to import photos and posts from his business page from Facebook. We’re also talking to people on Facebook who will be OSSN users.

Michael, suppose a startup social network had multiple people wanting to transition from Facebook to OSSN. The first step would be importing their old posts from Facebook. Regardless of how they find the OSSN site, whether through word of mouth, advertising, etc., an import feature is what would allow for a quick transition to the new site, and as such would be indispensable. Indeed such a feature would, moreso than any other, encourage a quick transition to the new site since users would be able to migrate their old posts to the new site.

You can export as a file all of your posts/photos from Facebook, a simple Import feature to import old posts would allow many people to transition to OSSN.

Hmm ... if I were a facebook user ... how would I know about Ossn then ... and the existance of such a feature?
