Hello OSSN Community,
I'm curious if any developers have already created or are currently working on an Accessibility Component for OSSN that specifically addresses the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA).
With the EAA's deadlines approaching, having a component to help OSSN instances meet these critical digital accessibility standards would be incredibly valuable for European users and anyone aiming for higher accessibility compliance.
Has a component been developed, or is one in the planning stage?
If not, would there be interest in collaborating on such a component?
Ensuring OSSN is inclusive for all members, regardless of ability, is a great goal for an open-source project. Any insights or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Eric glad that you found some solution and i agree starting with these shortcuts is good idea
Howevrer 'Hey Siri' thing would involve a lot of work.
next to mine running voice navigation i also working to
To make social networks easier to navigate for users with visual or motor impairments, keyboard shortcuts can provide fast and intuitive access to essential features — without needing a mouse or touch gestures.
Suggested key combinations:
Shortcut Action
Alt + 1 Go to Home / Newsfeed
Alt + 2 Open your Profile page
Alt + 3 Open Notifications
Alt + 4 Open Messages
Alt + N Create a new post
Alt + S Submit or send the current form
Alt + / Open the search bar
Alt + L Log out or go to login screen
Alt + ↑ / ↓ Scroll through posts
Alt + Enter Read the selected post aloud (if speech mode is active) (in combination with voicenav)
💡 Each shortcut can be combined with auditory or visual feedback — for example, the system can read “You are now on your profile page” when switching views.
These shortcuts are simple to implement using standard JavaScript event listeners, and can be toggled on/off in an Accessibility Settings panel for users who rely on screen readers or prefer keyboard navigation.
Eric, that’s a great idea a way to gain moral advantage over the market leaders.

Dictate
Arsalan, it can be voice-controlled the same way we use “Hey Siri” and “Ok Google.”
For schools, it is already a significant challenge to provide accessible and inclusive digital education for students with disabilities or visual impairments — let alone to ensure that websites themselves meet those accessibility standards.
I have made an component that navigate the site by voice and test it firm now. Butt Maybe there are other solutions
May God make all people healthy and without disabilities.
How does person uses social network if for example he is a blind?
Due to the many requests in the past for additonal features and components we have decided to develope a premium version. Features like Hashtags, Videos, Polls, Events, Stories, Link Preview, etc included in it.
