GreenByGreen

[ Download | Support ]

A simple responsive theme optimized for mobile usability, featuring ...

  • fixed topbar

enter image description here

  • two member selectable color presets (light and dark)

enter image description here

  • custom color and logo editor on admin backend

enter image description here

  • chat on mobile devices

enter image description here

  • separate 'My Groups' page instead of numerous entries in the sidebar menu
  • separate section keeping your personal stuff
  • floating widgets allowing usage of full screen width on large displays

Backup / Restore

Starting with release V 2.3, GreenByGreen comes with a backup/restore mechanism that takes care of keeping your modifications.
Whenever you disable GreenByGreen (= switch to a different theme) the following files will be saved to your Ossn data directory:

  • favicon.ico
  • logo.png (your site's frontend logo)
  • logo_admin.jpg (your admin backend logo)
  • frontpage.css
  • light_mode.css
  • dark_mode.css
  • as well as the 3 accompanying pdf files listing your currently chosen colors
  • site_custom_css.php (holding your custom css changes and additions)

Whenever you enable GreenByGreen these files will be restored to the theme directory, making your site instantly look the same again without any further manual interaction.

Customizing

Before manually applying any CSS changes to GreenByGreen, make friends with the comfortable admin backend and asure they can't be applied there in a much more easier way.
Manual CSS changes and additions must be saved in site_custom_css.php, only. Don't touch any of the other files since they are being modified and managed programmatically.

No instant idea, Andy.
I will release GbG 2.5 tomorrow with its own more up-to-date fancybox and a fix for deleting images. I can't recommend using the outdated fancybox component because it stops the gallery on album pages from working.
If possible, please provide a link to your community and I will have a look. Actually, I'm running tests with those 3 browsers all the time but so far didn't run into issues like that.

Thanks Z Man
Yh i can appreciate that - I figured out how to change it anyway now for desktop while leavuing small for mobile. Although seem to have another issue now lol.. I have changed the logo from the standard "your logo" and all was fine.. However on edge it keeps changing back to origonal image not my logo.. firefox seems fine its just chrome and edge seems to be.. When i right click and inspect the image it has data:image webp64 and a whole bunch of almost like minified css.. lines and lines of it.. so im assuming some cache issue..? how can i rectify this any idea? on firefox right clicking it and inspect revels images/logo.png which is correct.. just mainly edge

Thanks for your feedback, Andy.
I think you can't really speak of "understanding" when it comes to themes. Themes are more a question of personal aesthetics I believe. Like clothing. Some like that tight stuff, others prefer a more comfortable outfit. I intentionally wanted to have small images because GreenByGreen was meant for small devices in first place.

1.) Profile Cover not visible on android phone and pc. A fix is to reposition if you have a profile cover like these one below. :)
1440x519px

2.) Profile Cover cannot be deleted after clicking these buttons

Thanks for your reply ~Z~ Man. As of now that's what i have notice in my GreenByGreen Theme :)

Tagolan,
Background image? Delete button? I have no idea what you're talking about. Please send a screenshot and stick to the rules of How-to-report-a-bug.

Hi somehow background image will appear and sometimes doesn't. I could not also delete background image when pressing the delete button, it will prompt you to delete after that nothing change.

V 2.3 comes with backup / restore mechanism now - see detailed description in the beginning.

Thank you for your feedback, Sarah.

And yes: I was already thinking about some kind of backup mechanism, but it's still not quite complete.
Starting with V 2.2, the relevant css files are copied to a GreenByGreen subdirectory in your ossn_data tree WHENEVER you disable GreenByGreen - that is when you switch to a different theme.

Thus, theoretically you could install a GreenByGreen update and copy those saved files back in place.
Sounds smart at first sight, but what if the update comes with its own necessary changes? You would either blindly overwrite them or had to manually merge them. Still not foolproof ... and in a way counteracting my original idea of easy customizing. :)
